{"id":5372,"date":"2009-12-21T12:46:34","date_gmt":"2009-12-21T16:46:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/etherwave.wordpress.com\/?p=5372"},"modified":"2009-12-21T12:46:34","modified_gmt":"2009-12-21T16:46:34","slug":"cbc-radio-interviews","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rational-action.com\/etherwave\/2009\/12\/21\/cbc-radio-interviews\/","title":{"rendered":"CBC Radio Interviews"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sparse posting these days.\u00a0 Regular readers may have noticed I took down the tabs for the Canon page and the Web Lab.\u00a0 The former is because I haven&#8217;t been working on the canon project for a while, and until I find some way to reconstitute it, I thought it was better to bring it in from the cold rather than let it stand as testimony to a half-pursued project.\u00a0 The second is because my &#8220;Array of Contemporary American Physicists&#8221; is nearly done and will soon be ready for public viewing.\u00a0 It is in much nicer shape than the Web Lab version; but we&#8217;re still putting in pictures and polishing the content up.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/ideas\/features\/science\/index.html\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.cbc.ca\/ideas\/features\/science\/images\/title-atom.gif?resize=420%2C106\" alt=\"\" width=\"420\" height=\"106\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Array is taking up most of my time now, but in spare moments I&#8217;m working my way through Richard Staley&#8217;s well-crafted <em>Einstein&#8217;s Generation<\/em>, which I&#8217;ll profile here as soon as I&#8217;m finished.\u00a0 In the meantime, some big-name science studies people (Schaffer, Shapin, Galison, Daston, Ian Hacking, Bruno Latour, Andy Pickering, Brian Wynne, Evelyn Fox Keller) plus scientists and other thinkers, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/ideas\/features\/science\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">were interviewed by CBC&#8217;s David Cayley<\/a> at some point in the not-too-distant past as part of CBC&#8217;s <em>Ideas <\/em>program.\u00a0 I just recently ran across it.\u00a0 It&#8217;s called &#8220;How to Think about Science&#8221;.\u00a0 As I&#8217;ve mentioned before, <a href=\"https:\/\/rational-action.com\/etherwave\/2009\/08\/09\/sociology-history-normativity-and-theodicy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">especially here<\/a>, I&#8217;m not a fan of this framing of science studies, because it tends to set up some simplistic straw-man &#8220;public image&#8221;
